POSITION SUMMARY: The deli manager trainee position entails the process of gaining knowledge and expertise from the deli manager in regards to planning, organizing, directing and controlling all department activities; supervising, developing and motivating while working alongside the department associates. Follow the guidelines set by them and understand that the deli manager is directly responsible for providing and monitoring associates to ensure exceptional customer service is received by all of our customers. Learn that the deli manager position will be responsible for the successful deli department operation and implementation of all policies and guidelines as established by Tom’s Food Markets. *This hourly position starts at $650 for a 45 hour work week and is eligible for a fantastic benefits package after 30 days.


Responsibilities Include:

1. Ensure Customer Service is Always a # 1 Priority within the deli department and throughout the market.

2. Maintain an awareness and concern for the company’s interest and investments at all times, by conforming to the technical and ethical standards of Tom’s Food Markets.

3. Supervise department associates in a fair and consistent manner; delegate responsibilities accordingly.

4. Maintain the compliance of the Food Safety Code within the department and posted in the deli.

5. Ensure effective department security in compliance with company policies and directives.

6. Comply with all company safety and accident prevention policies, reporting all accident and providing related information to the manager in charge.

7. Train to develop, coordinate and enforce deli department work schedules to maintain effective control of labor expense while enhancing customer service.

8. Train to maintain adequate and appropriate deli department records at all times.

9. Complete all paperwork and communication to ensure a smooth flow of information with the department and throughout the company.

10. Evaluate your department continually, making recommendations for changes to your supervisors.

11. Maintain proper order and productivity through positive discipline and through documentation of these procedures.

12. Maintain good working relationships and open communications with all other associates.

13. Take charge of total market operations when assigned, enforcing all market security, maintenance and closing procedures.

14. Participate in the receiving and proper storage of products delivered to the deli department.

15. Ensure compliance with all Department of Agriculture regulations and guidelines within your department: Conduct periodic checks for freshness, correct weights and tares, proper labeling, dating, storage and sanitation.

16. All other duties as assigned.

17. Perform all deli duties, including food preparation, case preparation, customer service and clean up.
